The Special Adviser to Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo on South Mobilization, Abu Micheal, has declared that a second term for the Governor will bring even greater benefits to people of South-South origin living in Kogi State.
Abu made the remarks on Sunday during a visit to the monthly meeting of the Attumegbe Esan Women of Edo State, held opposite the Federal Teaching Hospital in Lokoja.
The Special Adviser, who also serves as President of the South-South States Residents in Kogi State — an umbrella body for indigenes of Edo, Delta, Cross River, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states living in Kogi — described Governor Ododo as a true friend of non-indigenes. He commended the administration’s inclusive style of leadership and attributed the prevailing peace and security in the state to the Governor’s commitment to good governance and to protecting lives and property.
“We, the South-South people residing in Kogi State, have never been given a sense of belonging in governance despite our many years of residence in the state, until the coming of the administration of Governor Ododo,” Abu said.
“Today, we are not only carried along, several opportunities have also been opened to us. For these reasons and more, we have resolved to sustain our support for his administration beyond 2027. We are confident that if we support him, he will continue to remember and support us. To this end, we declare our unflinching support. His return in 2027 for a second term is sacrosanct.”
Abu urged the women to continue mobilizing support and to spread the message of continuity for the Governor wherever they find themselves.
Speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the Okumagbe Women Association of Edo State, South-South Nigeria, Mrs. Rita Thomas, expressed confidence in the Special Adviser’s leadership and said the association had already keyed into Governor Ododo’s re-election bid. She cited the peace and security being enjoyed in the state, the free education policy, and women empowerment programs as reasons for the group’s support for the APC-led administration.
Highlights of the meeting included prayers for Kogi State, for Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo, and for a peaceful 2027 general election.
