No fewer than fifty stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okene-Ogori/Magongo Federal Constituency have reaffirmed their support for Hon. Ahmed Tijani Damisa’s re-election bid next year.
They promised to mobilize grassroots support for the House of Representative member throughout the Federal constituency and pledged to stand by him through thick or thin.
They made the declaration at the weekend, after a meeting of leaders of in various wards and the party excos, including non-governmental organisations, groups and politicians in the constituency.
At the weekend, political events kicks off Asuehi’s re-election campaign as fans of Hon. Ahmed Tijani Damisa staged announcements during the consultative meeting with APC Excos in Okene-Ogori/Magongo Federal Constituency.
Hon. Ahmed Tijani Damisa quietly kicked off his campaign for a third term on Saturday morning. He is likely to be the favorite, no matter who challenges him in the forthcoming APC primary election.
“I think PDP will have a hard time finding a credible candidate to run against him,” Akhapa Administrator, Mr. Goke said on Sunday, adding that Honourable Tijani Damisa is well known and respected.
“The people respect him for his political sagacity and multiple achievements, for his hardwork, and because he is very conscientious about doing his job and doing it well,” he added.
The opposition party will not have a strong candidate to contest against him.
According to chairman, APC, Okene LG, Mr Gowon, “there is probably a ton of nostalgia surrounding a third term for Ahmed Tijani, but the reality is that his track records stand more viable for him.”
Gowon further said: “Hon. Damisa has a lot of clout and experience, but advise him to do more assignment to convince others to stop searching for an alternative.”
His Eminence Alh. Abu Alio, the respected elder statesman hinged his support for Ahmed Tijani’s re-election on what he described as the excellent performance of Tijani in the last few years.
Alh. Abu listed Tijani’s achievements to include; financial empowerment for women, agricultural programs for youths, provision of fertilizers for farmers; sterling personal qualities of human kindness, honesty and ability to stay on course among others. He called on all indigenes of the constituency to rally round the house of representative member and vote overwhelmingly for him in the 2019 general election so that the good work could be taken to higher level.
The people of Abuga/Ozuja extraction in Okene local government council have passed vote of confidence on the formal councilor, SA to Governor and the current house member, representing Okene-Ogori/Magongo Federal constituency in the national Assembly, Yusuf Ahmed Tijani Damisa for quality representation. They assure him of massive support for his re-election in 2019.
A new group under auspices of Asuehi Political Family has endorsed Hon. Ahmed Yusuf Tijani Damisa for another term.
Giving reasons for their endorsement, the group said, Hon. Tijani Damisa’s extraordinary performance plus his incessant responses to the yearnings of his constituency was beyond measure.
Speaking on behalf of the group, its leader, Hon. Charles Balogun said the decision to endorse Hon. Tijani Damisa was taken after meeting with all its coordinator. He explained that the coordinators were drawn from ten wards of the Ogori/Magongo local government council. He praised Hon. Tijani for not only ensuring a vigorous and qualitative representation at the federal level but also strengthening democratic representation among other legislators from the central senatorial district.
Ogori/Magongo APC LG Chairman, Mr. Leornard Olutunji said Hon. Ahmed Tijani Damisa’s going to be everywhere and with lots of supporters if given the ticket because of his political experiences.
Hon. Moses Akande said he believes more candidates will enter the race, although he confirmed that newly elected party excos will definitely work for his re-election bid because of the good relationship he had with them when all of us were in PDP.
Ahmed Tijani Damisa has polled strongly among others aspirants for decade, and frequently rates as the most popular public figure in this council. According to Hon. Ahmed Tijani Damisa, I stand to say that we would serve the constituency better if given the opportunity to serve again.”
The aspirant said he will deliver more dividends of democracy beyond people’s imagination.
