Okene Administrator Hold Security Meeting With Farmers, Fulani Herdsmen

The Administrator of Okene Local Government, Engr. (Mall) Abdulrazaq Muhammad, on Saturday, met with the leadership of Farmers Association and Fulani herdsmen from Oguda in the local government as part of his periodic meetings to ensure all inhabitants of the council live in peace irrespective of tribe, faith or origin.

The security meeting had the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Okene Command and Head of DSS, Okene Command in attendance.

In their respective remarks, both the farmers and Fulani herdsmen in Oguda said, the two entities have been living in peace and harmony without rancour.

They gladly informed the Council Administrator of the existence of a weekly meeting between the two as a way of strengthen their cordial relationship. They praised the decision of the Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Bello for his magnanimity and love towards the fulani herdsmen in the state and reassured the government that, they will continue to live in peace and harmony with the host community.

Also speaking, the Divisional Police Officer, Okene Command took time to explain the command’s effort in maintaining peace and order among all the people of Okene Local Government.

Speaking further, the police boss maintained that, he had a detachment of police officers stationed at Oguda and it environs, and till now, the security reports have been favourable.

According to him, no single incidence of farmers herdsmen crisis recorded.

He further praised the security strategies of the Council Administrator, whom he described as a round peg in a round hole.

The Council Administrator, Hon. Abdulrazaq Muhammad thanked them for their understanding, cooperation, and brotherly relationship, saying such synergy is desired now and always as it remain a panacea for a sustainable development.

While he urged them to remain supportive of Gov. Bello’s administration, the Council boss equally assured of his government support as they go about normal lawful businesses.
