NSCDC Warns Criminals to Relocate From Kogi State Before Christmas

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Kogi State Command, has warned criminals operating in the state to relocate before the forthcoming Christmas and New year celebrations.

The State Commandant of NSCDC, Everestus Obiyo gave the warning at a news conference in Lokoja on Thursday.

Obiyo, while reviewing the achievement of his command between November and December, said remarkable achievements were recorded as a result of pro-active measures taken by corps to checkmate and reduce criminal activities.

According to him, available reports indicate that cases of crimes and criminalities in the state during the period under review were very low.

He announced that a most wanted pipeline vandal in Kogi state, Ishaku, has been arrested by the NSCDC. Obiyo said Ishaku, who had been on the wanted list of the command for over one year, was arrested at Adabo community in the eastern part of the state. He said the suspect took part in siphoning petroleum product from vandalized pipeline along KM 58 in Abaji.

Obiyo also told journalist that another suspect, Mallam Abubakar was convicted by a Federal High Court in Lokoja and sentenced to 17 years in prison for criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of petroleum product and illegal dealing in petroleum.

He added that the command arrested some persons and received eighteen (18) different cases that are both criminal and civil in nature ranging from kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, theft, threat to life and illegal possession of fire arms.
