The Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu has deployed disaster management officers in all areas affected by flood in the country, including Kogi, Niger, Delta, and Anambra States.
The corps disaster managers, it was learnt, would assist victims of the flood in the affected states and also in all disaster-prone areas in the country.
The Deputy Commandant-General in charge of Crisis Management, Dr. Emmanuel Adeoye, who disclosed this in Abuja on Wednesday, explained that the operatives, who he said were experienced in disaster management would collaborate with the National Emergency Management Agency and other agencies in helping those impacted by the devastating floods.
He stated that the CG had directed the corps personnel to be at the epicenter of all emergency operational activities throughout the federation with immediate effect.
“Sequel to the conference report on the rising level of water in both Rivers Benue and Niger, the Federal Government has declared a national emergency in flooding throughout the federation.
“Therefore, emergency operations centres have been set up by the NSCDC across the six geo-political zones with immediate effect. All zonal commands, state commands, divisions and other formations of the corps are to ensure adequate and appropriate deployments henceforth,” Adeoye ordered.
