The candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency, Kogi state, in the last Saturday Presidential and National Assembly elections, Arc. Salman Idri,s has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of compromising the electoral process to subvert the will of the electorate.

Arc. Idris, who stated this while speaking with Newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday, said INEC has no justification to declare the election inconclusive as he polled the highest votes in the election and should be declared winner.

According to him, the election was conducted in an orderly manner with electorate coming out to vote candidates of their choice and urged the Commission not to allow anyone to use it to discredit the electoral law.

He pointed out that the results of the Presidential, Senatorial and House of Representatives elections in the said two polling units namely, one Otu ward and another in Egbeda Ega ward were cancelled due to over voting and violence respectively.

He wondered why the Returning Officer, Adams Baba would declare supplementary election in units where elections have been cancelled, saying it decision is contrary to the provisions of the electoral Act.

Arc. Salman noted that he had written a letter of complaint to INEC to register his grievances on what he called illegality.

He called on the commission to declare him winner to justify the confidence of the people in the nation’s electoral system.

The ADC candidate appealed to his supporters to be calm as the necessary steps are being taken to ensure that the right thing is done.
