Former senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Smart Adeyemi is reported to have called on the electorate to dig into the background of those seeking for elective positions so as not to vote rascals and misfits.
A definition of these two words will throw more light on how Sen. Adeyemi is inadvertently telling West Kogites not to vote for him.
A rascal is a mischievous or cheeky person while a misfit is a person who is not suited or is unable to adjust to the circumstances of his or her particular situation.
These two adjectives best qualifies Sen. Smart Adeyemi who not only fought two Governors in his eight years cannot truthfully claim to attract the kind of meaningful development his successor, Sen. Dino Melaye has attracted in less than four years.
In terms of background, the world especially, West Kogites know whose character is questionable which informed their total rejection of Sen. Smart Adeyemi’s third term bid in 2015.
Another truth in Sen. Smart Adeyemi’s assertion is that politics is a serious business that must not be left in the hands of charlatans and deceivers. Of course, the people can no longer afford to submit their collective destiny to a failed political merchant.
No amount of mudslinging will make the people of Kogi West give Sen. Smart Adeyemi any other chance whereas his eight years as the custodian of the people’s mandate were the epitome of retrogressive representation in the senate.
On the promise to build a befitting township stadium in Koton Karfe, a look at the stadiums he claimed to have built is a pointer to his lack of depth in character.
The people of Kogi West are aware of who Sen. Smart Adeyemi owes his allegiance and they are resolute not to have a stooge and scallywag as Senator. No room for a warrant senator! A man who is not suited or is unable to adjust to the circumstances of his or her particular situation cannot be trusted with the mandate of West Kogites; a reality lost on Sen. Smart Adeyemi.
Sen. Smart Adeyemi should wake up from his dream because it will eventually become a nightmare.
