Rep. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of Kogi State has urged Nigerian citizens, at home and in the Diaspora, to remain united and focused in fostering the unity of Nigeria as a nation.

Rep. Halims who is also the Chairman of the House Committee on Steel Development made the call in a statement issued by his media aide, Muhammed Nasiru to mark the occasion of the country’s 61st independence anniversary, even as He assured the people of his Constituency of better days ahead.

He opined that the citizens owed the country a responsibility to join the government in the task of tackling issues that threaten the country’s collective survival as a nation, with a view to marshaling out plans for socio-political and economic growth and sustainable development, against the onslaught of banditry and secessionist illusions that have bedeviled the country.

“I congratulate and felicitate with every citizen of Nigeria, and in particular, the people of Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency, on this joyous event and on the journey so far. “In no mean reasoning, it is important to celebrate the accomplishment of the vision of our founding fathers to birth a strong, indivisible, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria where everyone is treated equally, considered fairly and live in just and truth; to build a nation where peace and justice shall reign.

“Therefore, we owe it to ourselves and posterity to continue to interrogate issues that threaten our collective survival as a nation. In our introspection, we must review not just the last sixty one years but also look into the years ahead and plan for socio-political and economic growth cum sustainable development,” he said.
