It was a fun-filled moment as the former governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, Barr. Natasha Hadiza Akpoti hosted Christmas fiesta party across Kogi Central senatorial district and the state capital, Lokoja.
The events which held concurrently between December 27 and December 31, 2021 were filled with fun and merriment. Food packs and soft drinks were distributed to the people of the grassroots, especially the old and less privileged.
Speaking on behalf of the philanthropist, the coordinators of the Akpoti’s yuletide event, Mr. Salami Etudaiye and Mrs. Afolabi Omotayo in their separate remarks expressed joy over the success of the events.
“Although it was hectic but we thank God for the success of the events and the smiles we saw in the faces of our people.”
Narrating the modalities used for the event, Omotayo said, “we had 10 strategic locations spread across Adavi, Okehi, Okene, Ajaokuta, Ogori-Magongo and one location in Lokoja. Each location had a cow and 5 bags of rice with soft drinks and water. There were tents and chairs where the beneficiaries gathered to eat and had fun.”
“Even though the turnout overwhelmed the quantity of food packs we had, the gesture went deep in the hearts of the beneficiaries. We must appreciate our principal for coming up with this initiative and for supporting us all through,” Omotayo added.
In joyful reactions, some of the beneficiaries who were mostly old men and women prayed fervently for Akpoti while acknowledging that her kind of gesture is uncommon in their localities.
Natasha Akpoti had earlier, during the yuletide, donated a truck load of rice to the needy across Kogi State for the celebration of Christmas and new year.
