The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has condemned the shooting of a student, Akinsuyi Samuel, by policemen in Oyo state.

In a statement signed by the National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Agada Noah, the victim, a final year student of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, was shot while travelling to Ibadan.

He described the action of the uniformed officers as barbaric and unprofessional.

“Without any iota of joy, we wish to address the public and call on the attention of the Inspector General of Police to the ugly incident by the dark men of the Nigeria Police Force, who shot a promising student and a future leader of our dear nation in a manner that is totally unjustifiable and condemnable.

“Akinsuyi Samuel, a final year student of Public Administration of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa was on his way to Ibadan when he met this unfortunate scenario of being a victim of the unprofessional and uncivilized act of the men of NPF.”

NAPS called on the Inspector General of Police to identify the policeman responsible for the dastardly act and prosecute immediately.

“While the leadership of NAPS is putting efforts to reach out to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State command, we wish to emphatically state that, if the police officer is not identified, and sanctioned after two working days, we shall storm the police command.”
