The National Association of Polytechnics Students (NAPS) has sympathized with the Governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, over the incident that claimed the lives of innocent worshippers who were armless and had the total faith in God and relied on the security structure of the society.

A statement signed by National Publicity Officer of NAPS, Comrade Agada and made available to Journalists in Lokoja on Monday, extended their condolences to the people of Owo in particular and the  esteemed students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic for the loss of lives and pray God to grant the faithful departed eternal rest.

According to the statement, the union said it would not watch to see the society slide into total anarchy.

“We will not watch to see citizens of a once peaceful nation live in daily fear as we charge the Governor, the Chief Security Officer of the state, to stand up to expectations and bring not only the perpetrators to book but be taught severe lessons to avoid future occurrences as Ondo has been known for peaceful co-existence for time immemorial.

“We charge the Commissioner of Police to put into practice the best investigative apparatus to bring this evil men to book and restore the confidence of peace to the society.

“While we pray never to encounter this again, we wish to charge religious leaders to be vigilant and put security measures around worship centres as “a threat somewhere is a threat everywhere”.
