A Lokoja-based cake vendor, Mrs. Saliu Tosin Orenisin, has publicly expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Senator representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti, for what she described as a life-saving intervention through the facilitation and donation of a CT scan machine to the Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Lokoja.

In an emotional post shared on her Facebook page, Mrs. Orenisin recounted how the availability of the CT scan machine at the hospital played a decisive role in saving her younger brother’s life during a critical medical emergency. According to her, the equipment enabled doctors to act swiftly and efficiently, eliminating the need for a risky referral outside the state.

“I can’t hide it any longer. Appreciation post. Thank you, ma’am, Senator Natasha Akpoti. The CT scan machine you facilitated and donated to FTH Lokoja saved my younger brother from untimely death,” she wrote.

She further noted that the presence of the diagnostic equipment significantly accelerated medical intervention. “It made the surgery and all the medical attention needed swift. I wasn’t sure he would have survived if he had been referred from Kabba to Abuja,” she added.

Offering prayers for the senator, Mrs. Orenisin concluded, “You will never bury any of your children, ma’am.”

Reacting to the commendation, Senator Natasha Akpoti reiterated her commitment to improving access to quality healthcare across Kogi Central and beyond. She emphasized that the donation of the CT scan machine was part of a broader effort to strengthen medical infrastructure and reduce preventable deaths caused by delayed diagnosis and referrals.

“I am deeply moved by this testimony,” the senator said. “Our goal has always been to ensure that our people can access timely and quality medical care without the burden of long-distance referrals. If this intervention has saved even one life, then it is a mission fulfilled but we will not stop there.”

She further assured constituents of her continued dedication to people-oriented projects, particularly in the health sector, stressing that more interventions are underway to enhance service delivery in public hospitals.

The Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, has in recent times witnessed improved diagnostic capacity following the installation of modern medical equipment, a development stakeholders say is gradually transforming healthcare outcomes in the state.
