A socio-political group, Kogi West Equity and Justice Forum has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for hitting the ground running since his assumption of office two weeks ago.

According to a communique issued at the end of its quarterly meeting in Lokoja on Sunday, the Forum commended the “patriotic efforts of Governor Yahaya Bello in working tirelessly to ensure that All Progressives Congress (APC) win the next gubernatorial elections in Kogi State in a free and fair contest through his festival of projects spread across the state. “

The communique signed by Prof  Daniel Abegunde and Alhaji Abdullahi Dauda, the Chairman and Secretary of the Forum respectively, said “Ododo Ahmed Usman, an Ebira man from the Central senatorial district will become the Governor of Kogi state by popular demand. Joel, an Igala man from the Eastern part of the State will be the Deputy Governor. It, therefore, make sense that the ministerial slot is given to Western senatorial district.

“Among the APC stalwarts in Kogi West, only three people obtained the governorship nomination forms; David Adebanji Jimoh, Senator Smart Adeyemi and Asiwaju Idris Asiru.

“Asiwaju Idris Asiru is from Yagba and the current APC Senator for Kogi West is equally from Yagba federal constituency. Invariably, Yagba cannot be asking for a ministerial position again.

“Senator Smart Adeyemi is from Ijumu and he had just completed a third term membership of the Senate. More importantly, the Ijumus had produced a Minister in the past and presently occupying the House of Representatives. Asking for a ministerial appointment from GYB as the Leader of the party in the state will amount to an unfair request.

“To us as a Forum representing the largest interest of the Western Senatorial District, David Adebanji Jimoh is the most preferred candidate for the ministerial position. As a loyal party man, he withdrew from the governorship race as a mark of respect for the SYSTEM that was built by the Leader of the party in the state, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

“Going further, Governor Yahaya Bello is a man of his words. A Talk and Do Governor who will always remember any discussion he had with party faithful and loyalists during, before and after the primary elections.

“Ever since his withdrawal from the governorship race, David Adebanji Jimoh has collapsed all his campaign structures in support of Ododo’s project.”

According to the Forum, David Adebanji Jimoh is a great ambassador of APC not only in Kogi West senatorial district but the entire state and the nation as a whole.

“For posterity sake and to equally balance the political equation of powers in Kogi State, David Adebanji Jimoh from Kogi West should be considered for Ministerial position since the Central and the Eastern Senatorial Districts has been projected to be the Governor and Deputy Governor of the state respectively.

“David Adebanji Jimoh is from Kabba-Bunu LGA of Kogi State. During the last Presidential and National Assembly elections, he ensured that APC won overwhelmingly in his Local Government and Kogi West Senatorial District

“As a grassroots politician with local, national and global exposure, David Adebanji Jimoh will bring his banking and administrative experience to bear in whatever capacity he finds himself in any national assignment.”
