Lokoja LG Chairman Orders Demolition of Suspected Criminal Hideout in Old Market

Caretaker Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, has ordered for the demolition of an uncomplicated building in suspected to be a hideout of criminals.

Following a tip-off by the vigilante group, a big sack loaded with Indian hemp was discovered in the uncompleted building. Also, some youths were caught smoking Indian hemp in the building.

The Vigilante group has hitherto thoroughly combed the building following reports to them by residents of the area of suspected foul play, as the building was reportedly used by some miscreants for criminal activities.

The building, situated along Lokoja Old Market, was pulled down by the local vigilante group led by the SA Security to the LG Chairman, Yusuf Muhammed Bala, on Tuesday afternoon.

The demolition exercise was hailed by residents of the area who earlier reported to security operatives about the suspected building, being described as a distribution point of criminality.

Is his remarks at the scene, the Hakimi of Ward ā€˜Dā€™, Alhaji Isa Baba Nasidi, called on every citizen to be extra-vigilant and mindful of suspicious persons around their vicinities to ensure that any suspected person moving within, be quickly inform the security forces or government through appropriate channels.

According to him, the building demolition would serve as deterrent for those who wish to engage in acts of criminality of this scale so as to continue to keep the peace and ensure that citizens sleep with their eyes closed.

Residents of the area commended the local government chairman for the bold steps he been taken to eliminate criminal elements in the area.

They prayed Allah to continue to protect him in the discharge of his duties and pledged their support for his administration.
