The Administrator of Ijumu Local Government, Hon.Taufiq Isa has counselled fellow aspirants seeking to contest the chairmanship election to prepare for a free and fair primary election.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Othman Hamidu on Tuesday, the Administrator dispelled rumour making rounds that he has been endorsed for the Chairmanship seat by Governor Yahaya Bello.

He clarified that when he declared his intention to vie for the chairmanship position he did not mention that his aspiration has been endorsed by anyone.

He stated that as a democrat, he is ready to go the entire process to achieve his political ambition.

“As I said on the day of my declaration, I have not been endorsed by any leader in the local government but I have consulted the necessary people, group and leaders.

“We are in a democratic era, I believe in our system and I am ready to go through the processes of becoming the executive Chairman of Ijumu local government.

“For those who are running helter skelter to the Governor for endorsement, I advice they should prepare themselves for a free and fair primary election. The Governor is the father of all, he will not endorse anyone.

“Whoever wants to lead the good people of Ijumu should go and work to convince electorates that they have the capacity to lead them. Ijumu people are well enlightened that no one can come in the name of sentimental politics to win their votes.

“I have been very loyal to the party and serve well to the best of my ability, implemented the party’s manifesto, in carrying out development programs according to the Next Level agenda right from the inception of my administration as an Administrator. I have done well looking at the kind of fund available to me.

“Ijumu Local Government has witnessed tremendous development in the last four years as we have focused on rural development, human development, capacity building and a lot of things. I believe that on that basis, it would be logical for Ijumu people to re-present me to become their elected Council Chairman,” he said.
