Kwara AGN Tasked on Revalidation and New Registration of Members

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) Kwara State Chapter met on Saturday the at Joseph Centenary Hall after the re-composition of an harmonization committee led by the Chairman, Arc. Francis Akinola.

Other members of the Revalidation Committee are Francis Fatoye, Mrs Amina Sanni and Blessing Elegham.

In the discharge of the tasks ahead of the team, the committee reeled out the validation process which includes submission of name, year registered, who registered them, and their phone numbers as well as their e-mail where available.

The committee also made it clear that, there is a clear difference between revalidating and registering.

According to the Chairman, Arc Francis Akinola, the revalidation is for those that have registered before, but needs to update their membership to be financially up todate; while those that are yet to be registered will have to do that, he added that revalidation can not replace registration.

Members were enjoined to work together in the spirit of merging together to integrate into the Guild which has been in existence since 2006, from the days of Rabbi, Sir Ejike Asiegbu.

Kwara State AGN thus far is known to have gotten approval to search for land from the State Government, approval to run Nollywood Secondary School Club in all Secondary schools in the State which it has commenced by training POs and APOs who were posted to schools to start the NS, partnership with NTA network service/ Been TV London under late John Taylor to produce Family Circle, pointing out also that the Guild also won the 2008 HAF II HIV/AIDS project proposal from NACA which till date was never funded by the State Government along several other groups who were selected after the exercise. Noting that under the same NACA, Kwara AGN had participated in a three days training in Abuja.

Members are encouraged to invite more members to attend the next meeting as the attendance were below average when compared to the numbers expected.

Members who attended were in high spirit and ready move forward but are worried about the time the committee has to achieve the task before it.

The committee confirmed that they were appointed in earlier days of June,  but issued letters of appointment last week, and only managed to call this first meeting of all interests group.

The Chairman, Arc Francis appreciated the opportunity given to them to serve and assured the Guild that they will deliver on their mandate hoping time will permit them as they have June 28, less than 12 days to wind down.

He thanked the National Executive led by the National President, Mr Emeka Rollas Ejezie for giving them the space to operate, while he stated that, he is a worthy of emulating, noting that we in Kwara are proud of the good working relationship with our own son, the National Secretary, Comrade Dayo Onibiyo who can’t go unmentioned in the anal of the history of the Guild in Kwara State, he however, regretted the absence of the National Secretary at the meeting, which he said is unavoidably absent having notified the committee of his same.

The team, also appreciated the Catholic Mission for it’s support for the venue.
