As the All Progressives Congress (APC) holds its Kogi State governorship primary on Saturday, there are indications that large cash withdrawals from banks operating in the state capital, Lokoja, may have created liquidity crisis for customers.
Checks conducted round major commercial banks in Lokoja, revealed that customers found it extremely difficult to withdraw above certain amounts across the counter.
This also has caused long queues of customers at the counters, with many of them being on the line for hours without receiving the desired service.
The situation was worse at the ATM machines as long queues emerging only to get an explanation from the voice service saying “ network busy try again”
THISDAY gathered that the liquidity crisis might not be unconnected with the coming Saturday APC primary election where most of the aspirants might have allegedly entered an agreement with their banks for their cash needs.
Meanwhile, most of the hotels in Lokoja have been fully booked and delegates who have suddenly become tin gods were camped by the bargaining power of the aspirants.
