The Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State has vowed to defend its votes in the oncoming governorship election in the state.

Spokesperson for the party in Kogi State, Mr. Bode Ogunmola, stated this in Lokoja, on Thursday.

The PDP said, “We expect our supporters to stay back to witness the counting of their votes, the posting and announcement of results before leaving the polling units on election day. We will lawfully resist rigging and we will defend our votes.”

The ruling party said its attention had been drawn to a ploy by some politicians who are planning to equip thugs with fake uniforms and use the thugs to rig during the election.

“Let us play by the rules of the game. If we lose, we will congratulate the winner. If we win, nobody must scuttle our victory. The race must be open and fair. The incumbent governor has delivered on his promises and he deserves a second term,” the PDP said.
