Going by the public display of shame by the All Progressives Congress in the Kogi Central Senatorial District, the indicator is bright enough to tell that the Ebira people have lost the trust they massively accorded the party in the last general elections. After Daura, Okene Local Government produced the second highest votes for President Muhammadu Buhari.
It is not too much to say that the Kogi State APC stakeholders are already clueless, hopeless and stranded on how to convince the Ebira people to give their mandate to the character they’ve presented. This is evident in the hosting of two consecutive rallies at Okene within a month.
The APC Governorship flagbearer, Abubakar Audu is conscious of how he oppressed, maltreated and marginalized the Ebira nation. He is aware of how he took away the Obangede specialist hospital away for no just cause. He sure trusted his guts to insult the whole of Ebira nation with his hate and unrepentant speeches on the sons of the land. Instead of removing his “agbaada” filled with pride to make apologies to the “Itazis,” he brought the Vice-President to be sneered. For clarification, the Ebira nation voted APC not because of Osibanjo, but President Buhari who have decided not to be associated with the yam eaters.
The Ebira people expected President Buhari to be there at the rally as earlier rumored by Audu’s propagandists. That would have probably moved them into a sober reflection of how they deserted their sons highly favored by Goodluck Jonathan, just to give the supposed righteousness a level-playing ground.
The presence of Osibanjo as a factor and strategy of influence is a piece of joke and a waste of time. Osibanjo cannot move Ebira, try President Buhari. Then, he’ll be shocked by the Progenitor of the Ebira kingdom himself.
We empathize with the traitors from the land who have pitched their tents with Abubakar Audu, for they are the least of the worries Ebira people have. They have only decided to dig their political grave in the funeral of a politically dead emperor. They have sold their heads to buy caps. Then, of what use will the cap be?
Pride goes before a fall. Abubakar Audu was twice bitten, but never shy. Then, come November 21, a resounding fall is imminent.
