The All Progressives Congress (APC) standard bearer for the November 21 governorship election in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, in an interview published on October 15 in The Nation Newspapers described home-based politicians in Kogi State as being myopic and a bunch of disappointment.
Quoting exactly what he said in the interview:
“I have tried home-based people as my running mates in the past and they all brought disappointment to our team…”
“… I see most of our politicians that are home-based as being myopic, based on my past experience. This is the more reason why I had to shop outside and fortunately I found Faleke.”
When I read this interview my heart bled for the few politicians who have being following Audu since 1992 without turning back, and or course, without anything to show for their loyalty. These are the first categories of politicians who Audu as being myopic.
Going a step further, I found it irritating that the same politicians who have sacrificed all they had to support Audu in his past ill-fated attempt to return to Lugard House in 2003, 2007, 2008, 2011 and now in 2015 are seen as being a disappointment to the ‘Audu Team’. These surely include politicians like Senator Muhammed Ohiare, Dr Moses Wokili and Barrister Henry Ojuola, both being Audu’s former running mates in past elections. No doubt, Audu now see them as ‘Disappointment’. The list of myopic politicians will include most, if not all, of the aspirants that contested against him during the recent APC governorship primaries. These include leaders like Clarence Obembe, Yahaya Bello, George Olumoroti, Nurudeen Abatemi, Dr Habeeb etc.
But wait… I thought I read an interview where one of the ‘Myopic politicians’ from Kabba claimed that Audu has changed. That Kabba Engineer must have been under the influence of Paraga when he made that statement.
It is obvious that the man called Audu Abubakar lacks capacity to change from his crude old ways and from all indications, he cannot change again in his lifetime. This same Audu is fond of diminishing everybody in Kogi state. From referring to pensioners as dead wood to saying the entire Oworo population can be packed by a Pick-up van. It shouldn’t surprise anyone again that Audu treated political appointees and his deputy governors in the past with disdain, he believes we are all myopic, no be so?

When you read these reports you will know that of a truth, Audu believes we Kogites are myopic and should be treated with disdain.
