The national president of Kogi Transparency Initiative (KTI), Comrade Idris Usman, has stated that his organisation mobilised its members for last week’s election monitoring, and has concluded that what happened in Kogi State on the election day was “nothing but a farce, and as such, unacceptable not only to his group, but to the entire citizens of the state”, and maintained that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) introduced a new dimension to its culture of rigging.

He also stated that monitors from the group were in possession of factual evidence to corroborate their claim, and posited that it would be wise for the INEC to fix a fresh date for another round of an election in which registered members of the electorate would have the opportunity to cast their votes in a crisis-free atmosphere.

“How do you explain a situation in which the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its agents intimidated legitimate voters who came out to perform their civic responsibilities, despite various sensitisation campaigns embarked upon by different groups prior to the election to discourage violence and thuggery?” Usman queried.

Idris stated his group’s total rejection of the outcome of the election, and accused the PDP and security operatives of “conniving to rig the election in a scientific manner.
