The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) has called on the Civil Servants in the state not to dance to the tune of the organised Labour in the state against the government of Governor Yahaya Bello as he has good intentions towards the welfare of workers in the state.
The National President of the Students’ Union, Comrade Ibrahim Ahmadu Akiti, who stated this today in Lokoja while exchanging views with journalists, condemned in strong terms the arm-twisting behavior of the organised Labour in the whole saga.
The activist implored the Civil Servants in the State to support the present government adding that it has no hidden agenda but wants to prioritize their welfare.
“We are calling on the Civil Servants not be misled by derogatory statements made by detractors. This strike is a means to cause further delay in the disbursement of arrears of salaries,” he said.
Akiti further stated that the instruction to open new accounts with Access Bank and Zenith Bank is a way to simplify salary payment and not to cause discomfort.
“NAKOSS is confident in the commitment of the present administration to cater to Civil Servants’ needs, and would not hesitate to speak in the event it observes anything contrary to due process,” he stated.
The student group also appealed to the State Government to call for a conference of heads of ministries, heads of parastatals, agencies and all union bodies to create awareness about its activities in relation to workers’ welfare.
“I can say that the present administration has thus far excelled in disseminating information about its activities through effective media publicity to its intentions towards integrity, transparency, and ultimately growth,” he added.
