An Igala chieftain, Amb. Ogah Anthony, has stirred fresh political conversations in Kogi State following a statement highlighting achievements in Okene during the administration of former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello.
In a post that has since gained traction on social media, the chieftain urged Igala political stakeholders to reflect on governance outcomes rather than apportioning blame. He specifically called on certain leaders to “visit Okene and see what leadership and development look like,” suggesting that meaningful progress has been made in Kogi Central.

The chieftain pointed to key infrastructural and institutional developments in Okene, particularly the establishment of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH). The university, located in Osara near Okene, has been widely regarded as a major educational milestone in the state, aimed at advancing science and technology education and creating opportunities for young people.
In addition, he referenced the development of the Reference Hospital Okene, a modern healthcare facility designed to improve access to quality medical services within the region. The hospital stands as one of the flagship health projects of the Bello administration.
Beyond infrastructure, the administration of Alh Yahaya Bello, CON, had implemented numerous youth focused initiatives, noting that many young people in Kogi Central benefitted from empowerment programs, appointments, and skill acquisition opportunities. These efforts, he implied, contributed to a sense of inclusion and economic participation among the youth.
While acknowledging that Kogi East held governorship position in the past, the chieftain questioned why similar levels of development were not evident in the region. He urged Igala leaders to prioritize unity, accountability, and effective representation.
