Kogi state is set to lose head coach of the Super sand eagles, Audu Ejo Adamu and a host of other top coaches after been declared uncleared workers and advised to retire from the civil service system.
Ejo who placed 2nd at the just concluded Africa beach soccer championship is among the 45 uncleared workers at the Kogi state sports council.
Before now, Seychelles an Africa country had offered Coach Ejo a lucrative deal but was turned due to the love for his fatherland but as it stands Ejo will have not other option than to leave the shores of the country.
The Super sand eagles gaffer won the first edition of the CBN beach soccer event held in 2013.
In the category of uncleared staff of the sports Council, the head coach table tennis, Friday Abah was not spared in the screening process. Abah is the only table tennis coach in the 21 local governments area of the state.
The Handball head coach, Philip Peter suffered same fate as the screening review committee described him unclear, the screening if implemented will leave Kogi without a handball coach. The only performing athlete been paid by the sports Council, Blessing Itodo is also tagged uncleared. Blessing has represented Kogi state in various competition rendering from National Schools sports Festival, National Youth Games and National Sports Festival.
The major upset is those that were cleared but advised to retire.
The Kogi state screening review committee cleared 54 sports Council workers but advised 15 exceptional coaches and technical officials to take a bow.
Philip Momoh (wrestler), an Olympian, All Africa Games medalist, Commonwealth medalist, undefeated national champion was advised to retire few months to the 2017 National Sports Festival
Another casualty is the only weightlifting coach, Nwadei Christopher who just returned from an International invitation by the African weightlifting federation been selected as one of the foremost grassroots coaches.
Christopher who in time past trained Commonwealth Champion, Olympians, All Africa Games champion was invited to the 2014 Commonwealth games after been dropped by the Nigeria weightlifting federation.
It is worth to note that the 2017 National Sports Festival is around the corner and any plan to implement the screening committee, coaches and athletes will be poached by states that need the services of these coaches to better their sporting record and provide elite athletes for Nigeria.
