We, as concerned indigenes of Kogi State, wish to express our deep concern over recent developments involving certain State Commissioners, particularly regarding what appears to be wasteful expenditure on international trips. This situation is both troubling and embarrassing to the image and integrity of our dear state.
It has been widely reported that some Commissioners are currently out of the country without official leave, at a time when both the immediate past administration and the present government are actively commissioning the GYB Model School project. This development raises serious questions about their commitment, sense of responsibility, and respect for public office.
Even more concerning is the perceived contradiction surrounding the project itself. While the GYB Model School is being promoted as a world-class educational initiative, reports suggest that many government appointees—including some of the Commissioners in question—have their children studying abroad. This has led many citizens to question the level of confidence these public officials have in the very institutions they advocate.

There are also growing concerns among Kogites regarding the sources of funding for such overseas education, particularly in light of the known earnings of public office holders. Whether these concerns are accurate or not, they highlight the urgent need for greater transparency and accountability in public service.
Furthermore, the alleged absence of Commissioners without proper authorization, if confirmed, reflects a disregard for due process and administrative discipline. Such conduct should not be tolerated in any responsible government.
We therefore call on His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, to urgently address this matter and take the necessary steps to restore public confidence. The people of Kogi State deserve leadership that is accountable, responsible, and fully committed to the service of the state.
Kogi State must not be subjected to ridicule due to the actions or inactions of any appointee. It is imperative that appropriate measures are taken to uphold the integrity of governance and protect the image of our state.
Signed:
Banji Adewale
