Kogi Speaker Urges Okun Nation to Support Governor Bello

…Gov Bello promised to approve the appointment of a new Obaro of Kabba before the end of the week.
Speaker,  Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole has urged the people of Okunland to support and rally round the current administration in the state led by Governor Yahaya Bello.
The Speaker made the plea at the Government House when he led the National President, Barr Femi Mokikan and other executive members of the umbrella body of Okun Development Association (ODA) on a courtesy call to the Executive Governor of Kogi State.
“Your Excellency, our coming today to visit you might be late because it is long overdue but I believe it is an appointed time by God, so, we, Okun under the umbrella body of ODA are happy to be here today to familiarize with you sir,” he said.
According to him, Okun People and Ebira have come a long way, having been together since the time of the Province and old Kwara, noting that nothing should stop the cordial relationships that has existed for many decades between the two groups.
He said the two senatorial districts have been clamouring for power shift for a very long time and God through Alhaji Yahaya Bello, granted the request, pointing out that it is only God that gives power and He give it to whoever He pleases.
He said despite our son, Hon Abiodun Faleke work hard to clinch the opportunity but God decides to crown Alhaji Yahaya Bello, urging the people to come together and support the current administration.
The Speaker commended the Governor for appointing credible Okun sons and daughters into his cabinet, stressing that, this would be the first time, Okun People will be given critical assignments, all in grade A portfolios with having the Speaker,  SSG, Finance, State Security Adviser, etc.
“I want ask this question, when would it be our turn in Okun and Kogi West in general? I believe if Central and West come together to give 100% support to the Governor come 2019, by 2023, I trust the talk and do Governor that I know, with the love and cordial long standing relationship of old Kwara, he will hand over power to us,” he added.
Kolawole said the meeting of today would resolve so many things coupled with the ongoing reconciliation, many lingering issues will be laid to rest.
Also speaking is the National President of Okun Development Association (ODA) Barr Mokikan thanked the Governor for giving them the opportunity to meet with him to discuss as Co partner in the development of the state.
He thanked the Governor for his love for the Okuns and made specific demands on behalf of the Okun people.
Barr Mokikan appealed to the Governor to fix roads in Okunland especially those roads that link the state with other states, noting that the roads are in bad state.
He also urged him to give Okunland a Campus of the State University to stimulate the economy and foster unity.
Mokikan further appealed to the Governor to pay every civil servant that had been cleared.
He commended the Governor for his excellent performance in security and civil service reforms.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Edward Onoja urged the Okun nation to reciprocate the good gesture of the Governor by supporting him.
He said 2023 will be determined by the votes given to the Governor in 2019.
The Governor thanked the delegation and promised to look into their demands.
He assured the leaders of Okun that he will continue to foster unity and enthrone development in the State, saying efforts are on to put the salary issue behind.
He also urged the Okun people to beware of characters that represent them as they will be mirrored through those characters.
Alh. Yahaya Bello also promised to approve the appointment of a new Obaro of Kabba before the end of the week, a promise that has elicited joy in the minds of all Okun people.
The Obaro of Kabba is the Traditional Head of Okunland.
With the assertion of the Governor, Okun people should expect more developmental strides in the coming months.
