Kogi Speaker Hails Makama For Establishing Tuition-Free School

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Umar Ahmed Imam has commended the house member representing Igalamela/Odolu state constituency, Hon. Friday Sani Makama for establishing a tuition free school at Odolu in Igalamela/Odolu L.G.A . The Speaker gave the commendation as a special guest of honour during the first graduation ceremony of the school.

The school, Ibro Ultra-Modern Nursery and Primary School, Odolu was established six years ago by the member representing Igalamela/Odolu state constituency, Hon. Friday Sani Makama (who is in his second tenure in the hallowed chamber) and named it after the former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Idris.

According to the Speaker, his presence at the occasion was to identify with Hon. Makama whom he described as “an honourable colleague and a good friend”.

“What he did about six years ago has produced its first fruits. What he has done today is an indication of his commitment to the growth of education. I was happy to be told that the school is tuition free”. He Speaker said.

He encouraged the pupils  to always aspire for excellence. Adding that “one can never tell who among them can become the president of the country tomorrow”.

The school, according to Hon. Friday Sani, was established because of the ” desire to lift my people out of the circuit of poverty and create for our children a very solid foundation to compete with their contemporaries”.

He emphasised the importance of Alhaji Ibrahim Idris to his political career.  “He (Ibrahim Idris) made it possible after God, for me to become a member of the Kogi State House of Assembly. He is my father and my mentor”

Hon. Friday Sani pledged to continue to provide funds for staff salaries and instructional materials to sustain the academic standard if the school. He also pledged to build more classrooms and rehabilitate the school bus as well as to pay the tuition fees of all the graduating pupils in their respective secondary schools.

He also reiterated his call to the people of Kogi state to give their full support to the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello irrespective of ethnic or political differences.

The House of Assembly members-elect from Idah and Ofu state constituencies, Hon. Haruna Idoko Musa and Hon. Friday Ali (respectively); former APGA governorship aspirant, Hon. Goodman Akpai and former Igalamela/Odolu Chairman, Alh. Zakito Umar were all present at the occasion.
