Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, says the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) remains committed to power rotation in 2019.
Awoniyi made the disclosure at a meeting of members of the party held
in Okene at the weekend.
The Deputy Governor urged members of the Party from the area to work
hard in ensuring that the party wins in the area convincingly in the
next Governorship election.
While reiterating the resolve of Capt. Idris Wada to begin the process
of initiating that power rotates to either the West or Central by
2019, two weeks after he assumes office in his second term, appealed
for sacrifices that would ensure peace and harmony before, during and
after the governorship election.
Awoniyi appealed to the people to see the next four years as one that
may look far, but very close, said Capt. Wada is committed to power
rotation that would allow for power to rotate.
Awoniyi described Capt. Wada as a leader trusted and committed to
making power rotation a reality, said there has been extensive
discussion by all critical Stakeholders across the State already on
the matter.
Earlier in his opening remarks, Hon. Yahaya Karaku, SSA I, Okene LGA
said the meeting was geared towards sensitizing members of the party
that Capt. Idris Wada remains the party’s candidate of choice ahead
the forthcoming primaries of the party and for members to work for the
victory of the Governor in the November 21 Governorship Election.
