The factional crisis rocking the Kogi state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a worse dimension as the Administrator of Omala Local Government Council, Hon. Ibrahim Aboh and his supporters created an ugly scene at a social function in Abejukolo over the weekend where the member representing Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala Federal constituency, Hon. Hassan Omale (APC) was an award recipient.
The untoward action on the senior member of the APC in Kogi East occurred in a function organised by the Omala Branch of Tricycles Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) to recognise some individuals and groups who had assisted in the promotion and sustenance of the body.
The meeting which was billed for ten o’ clock on Sunday could not kick off until about 2pm before supporters and important dignitaries started to arrive the venue, the main bowl of the Abejukolo township stadium.
First to arrive was the member representing Omala state constituency, Hon. Aliyu Akuh (PDP), who was an award recipient and the representative of the former governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris , followed by the Administrator of the council, Ibrahim Aboh and his entourage.
The member representing Omala received the awards conferred on him and the former governor with thunderous applause from the people. However, the peaceful procession took a dramatic turn with the arrival of their representative in the national assembly, Hon. Hassan Omale got to the venue of the event. Supporters of the local government Administrator, who were obviously uncomfortable with the presence of Omale, who was also an award recipient and believed to be a strong member of the Audu-Faleke faction of the APC, began to shout ‘New Direction’ and ‘No to Faleke’.
Just as if there was a no love lost between the union and the Administrator, his name was not included in the five persons billed for the awards even as his speech was laden with threats and was not supported by donation which had charged the atmosphere before the arrival of Hon. Hassan Omale.
Aliyu Akuh (PDP), who had also pulled strong supporters to the venue was about leaving when Hon. Omale came in and after exchange of banters, he moved towards his vehicle and left the venue.
Meanwhile, Omale hardly sat down when the Administrator, who was supposed to be the host to Omale, took off with his officials and supporters chanting ‘Sai New Direction’, ‘Hail Alhaji Yahaya Bello’, ‘No to Omale and Faleke’.
Speaking on the treatment meted on Omale, a stalwart of APC in the area who does not want his name in print condemned the action of the Administrator to have walked out on the elected representatives of the people of Omala, Ankpa and Olamaboro LGAs.
He added that, as the chief security officer of the Local Government Council, his unceremonious exit with the security agents from the venue could pose a security threat to his guest stressing that any breach of security on the guest could be placed on his doorstep.
