In her usual practice, the Chairman of Kogi State Mineral Resources and Environmental Management Committee (MIREMCO), Hajiya Hassiat Ozavize Suleiman has hosted members of her community in an Iftaar (breaking of the fast).
The dinner which held at her residence in Oboroke-Ihima, Okehi LGA was open to all as adherents of both Islam and Christianity partook in the fest which was organised as one of her many charity efforts at giving back during the holy month of Ramadan.
Though Muslims are obligated to embrace alms giving and charity during the Holy month of Ramadan, many beneficiaries of the iftaar attested that Hajiya Hassiat’s philanthropic gestures are recurring, just as they applauded her efforts towards making lives meaningful by cash donations and food items.
In her vote of thanks, Hajiya Hassiat reminded everyone present of the Islamic teachings about constant sadaqqah (charity), especially in the month of Ramadan.
She stated that while the reason for the gathering was apolitical, it was imperative that she takes time to dispel the rumors about the alleged intention of the party leadership at the national level to deny His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello the ticket to contest for November election.
She explained that the party as a whole has thrown its support behind His Excellency and his antecedents and conduct/success at the presidential election have proven beyond doubt that he is a valuable asset to the APC.
Hajiya Hassiat then enjoined everyone not to weaken their support for the continuity of the New Direction administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.
“Ignore the merchants of lies. Governor Yahaya Bello is too focused to be distracted. The All Progressives Congress at the national level knows that the Governor is an asset and the party is ready to support him. Nobody changes a winning amidst the game”, she said.
The MIREMCO boss thanked everyone for honouring her invitation and wished everyone a blessed Ramadan.
In a related development, Hajiya Hassiat had a brief discussion with 5 out of the 7 ward youth leaders of Ihima to chart the way forward in youth mobilisation towards the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
The highlight of the event was the distribution of some food items and monetary gifts.
