An aspirant for the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dino Melaye, has clarified that his aim is to lead the state as a governor.

Melaye, a serving senator representing Kogi West district, denied planning to become the running mate to Captain Idris Wada, a former governor of the state, who is seeking to clinch the PDP ticket ahead of the election.

A statement by Gideon Ayodele, his media aide, on Thursday, August 30, said those carrying the rumour only wanted to frustrate him from emerging the candidate of the PDP.

The statement recalled that Captain Wada lost the last election in the state even as a sitting governor adding that it would not make a political sense to become a running mate to such an aspirant.

Melaye described himself as a man with better ideas and clearer vision, who cannot queue behind Wada.
