The Kogi State Government has assured full accreditation of courses at Nigerian Korea Friendship Institute (NKFI) Lokoja.
The Honorable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology gave the assurance when led a delegation of Korea International Cooperation Agecy (KOICA) Nigeria headed by its country’s Director, Mr Woo Chan Chang, to the SSG office on Tuesday.
Hon. Jones who assured the team of the readiness of Governor Bello in ensuring full accreditation of courses at the Institute, stated that efforts were in top gear to get all the courses accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The Commissioner informed the SSG that the team were also in the State to commission a 500 KVA Transformer, provided by the Republic of South Korea to NKFI and inspection of facilities in the institution.
Speaking, the country Director of Korea International Cooperation Agency, Mr Woochan Chang, commended the State Government for showing interest in vocational and Technology based Education.
Chang, who was accompanied by the implementation team of the Programme, noted that the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello had signed a Memorandum of understanding on the take-off of the second phase but was delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.
According to him, the Nigeria Korean Friendship Institute is a result of the partnership between Korean and Nigerian Government and Kogi State in particular.
In her remarks, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Mrs. Folashade Ayoade, welcome the team to Kogi State, saying that this is critical to the existence of Nigeria as a country with many resources yet to be fully utilized.
Ayoade promised the Korean delegation that the State Government would play its role in ensuring that the Institution achieved its aims and objectives.
In his vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi, assured the delegation of the unflinching support of the ministry while reiterating the commitment of the Governor to vocational and technological development in the state.
He further commended the team and the Government of Korea for the partnership and wish them succes in their assignment in the state.
