Kogi Govt Launches ‘Operation Clean The City’, Declares State of Emergency on Environmental Mgt

Kogi state government has launched an environmental management initiative, ‘Operation Clean the City’ project.

Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, Engineer Joseph Oluwasegun, announced the launch when led other management staff of the Ministry to International Market and Nataco axis of the state capital on Wednesday.

Olusegun said the present Governor Usman Ododo-led administration has zero tolerance for uncleanliness.

He warned that henceforth, the government is ready to sanction anyone found dumping refuse indiscriminately especially on water channels.

He said the state government has declared a state of emergency in environmental management, noting that the exercise will be extended to the grassroots.

The Commissioner said Kogi state government is committed to enforce cleanliness across the state.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mallam Jibril Saidu the appointment of the Commissioner is a step in the right direction, describing him as a workaholic.
