Kogi state government has flagged off the distribution of forms for the skill acquisition program aimed at training the youths to be self reliant.
The distribution exercise was flagged off by the State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones on Friday in Lokoja.
The Commissioner called on the beneficiaries of the program to take advantage of the gesture by the state government to develop and engaged themselves meaningfully.
He reiterated the commitment of the state government to making sure that youths in the state are gainfully employed through various skill acquisition programs.
The Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Jibrin Saidu Alhaji, commended the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Informal and Vocational Education, Dr. Aminu Atabor for coming up with the program which he said would engage the youths in meaningful ventures.

The program, according to him, would greatly reduced crime rates and unemployment in the state.
In his remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Informal and Vocational Education, Dr. Aminu Atabor said the program is one of numerous programs the state government has designed to create jobs and reduced unemployment in the state.
According to him, the skill acquisition program would equip the youths with skills that would make them relevant in the society.
The program, he explained, would be run in partnership with many institutions running skill acquisition programs, adding that the training would be in many fields like, Graphic Design, Furniture Making, Computer Application, Software Development and many others.

The Forms, according to him, are free and interested candidates are requested to pick their forms at the State Ministry of Education, Lokoja.
Speaking, one of the candidates of the program, Comrade Arome Michael commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the program, saying the program would change their fortunes.
He urged all the beneficiaries to take the program seriously in order to compliment the state government efforts.
