The Kogi State Government has commenced a three-day Stakeholder Training on the Kogi OneGov – Integrated Government Management System (IGMS), charging participants to take ownership of the new digital platform as the state moves to overhaul how government business is conducted.
The training opened on Tuesday, September 2, 2026, and will run through Thursday, September 4. It has brought together Permanent Secretaries, Heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Directors, and Finance, Procurement, Human Resources and ICT officers from across the state.
The Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, who represented Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, declared the training open. The Kogi State Head of Service, Hajiya Falilat Yusuf Musa, Esq., was also in attendance.
Delivering welcome remarks on behalf of the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris, FCA, FCTI, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Economic Planning 2, Dr. Elijah Evinemi, said Kogi OneGov was designed to change the way government business is conducted in the state.
He said the vision of the initiative is captured in the statement: “One Government. One Platform. Better Service.”
Dr. Evinemi explained that the state’s current system, in which budget, treasury, procurement, payroll, revenue, assets and documents operate in silos, has slowed down service delivery and weakened accountability.
“Kogi OneGov is about changing that. Our budget should speak to our treasury. Our procurement should speak to our budget. Our payroll should speak to verified personnel records. And our documents should move faster, more securely and more transparently,” he said.
The Special Adviser stressed that technology alone cannot transform government, noting that the success of the platform ultimately depends on the people who will use it.
He urged participants to actively engage throughout the three-day training. “These three days are about you. Ask questions. Test the system. If something doesn’t make sense, say so. You are not just trainees. You are our change agents and future champions of Kogi OneGov,” he told them.
Dr. Evinemi described OneGov as more than an ICT project, characterizing it instead as a governance reform, a public financial management reform, and an institutional reform aimed at improving service delivery to the people of Kogi State.
He added that under Governor Ododo’s leadership, the state government remains committed to strengthening institutions and ensuring that every naira of public resources delivers value through transparency, reduced duplication and data-driven decision-making.
He further urged participants to be willing to learn, unlearn and relearn, noting that the shift from manual and fragmented processes to an integrated digital system is necessary for the state’s institutional growth.
Dr. Evinemi appreciated Governor Ododo for his support of the initiative and commended the technical team, resource persons and participating MDAs for their efforts in bringing the project to fruition.
The training is themed around improving efficiency, transparency and service delivery through the full deployment of the Integrated Government Management System across all MDAs in Kogi State.
