Kogi Gov’s Adviser, Abubakar Ohere Bags New York Varsity Doctorate Award

Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Engr Abubakar Ohere has been honoured with the conferment of Doctor of Philosophy in Science, ‘honoris causa,’ by the State University of New York, USA.
The honorary event which was organized by the World Association of Academic Evaluators and Assessors (WAAEA) in collaboration with the Joint University Standard Council held on Saturday in Accra, Ghana, drawing academicians from across Africa.
WAAEA is the body that coordinates the activities of the State University of New York in Africa.
Africa Coordinator of the Association, Prof Lamba Adeyemi stated that the nomination of Abubakar Ohere received the unanimous endorsement of the University, and the Governing Council of the association.
He eulogised the Awardee as a beacon of hope for the less privileged, and a selfless proponent of good governance in Africa.
According to Adeyemi, the association introduced the honorary award to recognize few selected credible individuals identified as enviable pillars for sustainable growth and development in their respective communities, states and countries.
Abubakar Ohere who was represented by a Chieftain of Kogi Professional Body, Engr Abdul Lawal Zubair, expressed gratitude to the University and the Association for deeming him fit for a global recognition, describing the award as an encouragement to recommit himself to humanity service.
In a good will message, Dr Yahaya Ogirima who was also present at the event described the honor as timely and well placed, especially now that African society is faced with genuine leadership crises.
He congratulated Engr. Ohere, and urged him to further rededicate himself to those good governance template of Governor Yahaya Bello, that exposed him for the global acknowledgement.
Ohere also got Leadtimes Africa Magazine Leadership Award on Transparency, Integrity, Selfless Service and Accountability in Leadership,  alongside the Nigerian Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Governor of Kwara State, Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed
The event  featured an award lecture tagged “Leadership and Good Governance as Essential Tools for Sustainable Growth and Development in Africa – a Case Study of Nigeria,” as delivered by Dr Babajiya Mohammed Bida, the Deputy Registrar Academic, Federal University of Technology, Minna.
