The Kogi State Government has approved the appointment of eighteen traditional rulers across the state to fill vacancies left by deceased monarchs, following the successful completion of due process.
The appointments were announced in a press statement issued in Lokoja by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Eniola Enimola, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner.
According to the state government, the decision to confirm the traditional leaders stems from a firm conviction in their possession of the requisite tact, integrity, maturity, and patriotism needed to shoulder the responsibilities of their respective thrones.

Among those appointed to second-class monarch status are Mallam Haliru Aminu Akwu, who assumes office as the Etsu Elaite, and Major General Erema Akerejola (rtd), named the Ubuoro of Ogori land.
Other second-class chieftaincy appointments include Idris Ali Yusuf (Onu Itama), Usman Akowe Omonu (Onu Ayah), Joseph Abdul Abuh (Odu Ogidiga of Emodu), Abdul Opaluwa (Omachi Iyogbo), Ali Abba (Abagbo-Inna Akpanya), Umoru Zakari (Odoma Ata Igala), Umoru Usman Atabo Ijomi (Ekpa Ata Igala), and Yusuf Momoh Adama as the Anaja of Gbobe.
Similarly, the government approved the appointment of several third-class chiefs, including Alikali Suleiman (Taru Onyionwa Idu Eyire Clan), Salami Abdulrasaq (Olu-Ere, Ife-Olukotun), Zakari Alhassan (Ondaki of Ohikwo), Isiaka Ukele (Ogohi Acharu), and Abuh Adukwu (Owo Onu-Ife).
Completing the list of third-class traditional rulers are Alhaji Gida (Ohinoyi of Kekere), Sule Yabubu (Ohinoyi of Edekakpo), and Nigeria Okpanachi as the Egena Eje Olamaboro.
The Ministry confirmed that all eighteen traditional ruler appointments take immediate effect across the designated chiefdoms.
