Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has effected a minor cabinet reshuffle with the redeployment of some of his commissioners from their previous ministries to new ones.

This is just as the governor has given 90 days ultimatum to non-performing political appointees in his cabinet to sit up in terms of productivity or be shown the back door.

The Governor in a statement he personally signed, announced that the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Mrs Rosemary Osikoya is now to take charge of the Ministry for Education, Science and Technology, while Dr Sunday Tolorunleke who hitherto heads the Education Ministry has been moved to the Ministry for Commerce and Industry.

Others affected are Mr Arome Adoji, from Sports and Youth Development to Culture and Tourism while Mr Mohammed Awwal has been moved from Culture and Tourism to the Ministry of Transportation.

In the same vein, the Commissioner for Transportation, Prince Salisu Sani Ogu has been redeployed to the Ministry of Youth and Sports just as the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Sanusi Usman Yahaya is now to take charge of the Ministry for Environment and Natural Resources.

The governor also announced the creation of Kogi State Lands and Housing Services Bureau to be headed by a Director-General yet to be announced.

He said that all the changes would take effect from January 1, 2018 and urged all the affected commissioners to formally hand over on or before the effective date.

Bello said that “after about 18 months in office, all cabinet members must know where they stand in terms of productivity.

“This Administration requires excellence at all times. Mere good performance can never be good enough, and some have even fallen below that”.

“Those who have not added significant value to Kogites through their offices MUST start now to post superlative results.

“In the next 90 days, if they are still average, they will leave me no choice but to find those who will keep pace with our governance aspirations”.
