Kogi Farmer in Court Over Cow Theft

The National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arraigned a 25-year-old farmer, Sunday Madagwu,  before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Kogi State,  for allegedly collaborating with his brother to steal and slaughter a cow without the consent of its owner.

Madagwu of Itoduma village in Ibaji Local Government Area, was charged with criminal conspiracy, theft and cruelty to animal, offences that are contrary to Sections 97(2), 207, 286(1) and 287 of the Penal Code.

The NSCDC prosecuting officer, E.S. Onu, told the court that the accused collaborated with one Goddey Madagwu (now at large) to commit the crime.
