Also in a democratic elections, the citizens are the major stakeholders  and must be given the opportunity to decide who should represent them.

It is one thing to practice democracy in the society. But it’s another thing to have it’s processes deepened across every ethnicity of such society. However, deepening democratic space is simply a due process ideology. Taking into cognizance the relevant bodies and group that comprises decision making process.

As 2019 elections gathers momentum, political gladiators are at it.

Defending every necessary opinion in order to drive home their interest.

Needless to say, the usual styles and mannerism of election in Nigeria has held some part of the country to ransom.

Kogi East and the state at large are prominent in terms of socio-economic and political retrogression. With politicians virtually trading collective course for self conceits. Although, reasons not far fetched, the decision of who gets what is restricted to few individuals who are coercively spearheading the common wealth of society.

As we speak, aspirants are on the marble confronting the needful and benching on so many tracks to sail to power. For instance, some aspirants hopes to ride on the horses of incumbency. Others, see ranking status as an added advantage. And some who seems to be moved by the deplorable state of affairs are riding on the tenacity of the masses which is ideally the right thing.

Now, the bottom line in the entire affairs is the common and mouthed slang- To represent the masses. To this extend, the true objectivity of each aspirant may not reflect at the moment as all games required are saintly played till further notice.

Let me also confess that the masses are somehow helpless as as they are portrayed as electoral catalyst but could only affect little or no change in electioneering downstream. That is why they seem contented because they have resigned to fate.

But we must turn back and act this time. Democracy should not be murdered before it’s enablers again. Kogi Easterners must rise in defence for justice, equity and transparency. Ensuring a better Kogi east remains a collective non negotiable task.

We must end the era of political anathema that allows few elites in control. The definition of good governance is equitable distribution of wealth. We must ensure a balance Kogi East where the generations unborn can flourish.

Above all, whoever must lead must have a mandate rooted in accountability, transparency and fairness.

In order to achieve these in the legislative assembly, all senatorial candidates must come together to prove their political competency and capacity through a careful and well thought-out mantra typical of the current challenges. They must tell to our very face how assimilated they are with the numerous challenges and how they intend to surpass impediments in the realm of governance to ameliorate them.

Since they are representing us, they owe it a duty to answer questions. And if the need be, a memorandum that will facilitate their recall at a regular intervals in the event of failure be signed.

At the end, we will all witness that democratic has taken it’s rightful place. Because it will hold our leaders accountable, it will also reawaken their conscience and moral standings.

This write up should be a pop advert for all comrades, activists, political analysts social media gurus and all those whose concerns for Kogi East represents justice. We must shed our political/religious and social differences and ensure history is made. Let us jointly bring all the senatorial candidates to the podium for a live debate.

We call on the various campaign managers and coordinators, media houses in Kogi state, NGOs and other relevant authorities to ensure a wholly inclusiveness by organizing this historic events.

Kogi East is for all.
