Kogi Community Seeks Govt Assistance to Resuscitate Abandoned Police Station

The people of Ijowa in Yagba East local government of Kogi state has appealed to government to resuscitate the abandoned police station in the community.

The leadership of Ijowa Development Association made the appeal in Isanlu on Thursday when it executives led the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security for Yagba East, Hon. Sule Abdulwakil visited the abandoned station.

The Association said the appeal is against the backdrop of rise in social vices in Ijowa community which is a gateway surburb to Yagba East local government.

They explained that the police station was initially existing with officers posted there but along the line, superior orders pulled out the officers from the area resulting in the abandonment and dilapidation of the facilities.

They said for a community as populous as Ijowa with several business activities going on in the environs, it is undeserving not to have a police post in the community.

They pleaded with the council helmsman to make a case for them and liaise with the state government and the police high command to restore the the police post back to the community.

The abandoned facility which includes the police post and a police Barracks built behind it.

Hon Sule assured the community that their request will be given utmost attention as security is the business of all.

He also assured the association of his availability at all times when he is called upon on issues that borders on the safety of the people.
