Kogi Central PDP Ticket: ‘I am the Defending Champion’ – Senator Ogembe

Senator Ahmed Ogembe has expressed confidence that he will emerge senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kogi Central.

Speaking with newsmen before facing the PDP national assembly screening committee headed by Olorogun Jaro Egbo in Lokoja on Wednesday.

He stated that as the “defending champion” of the party’s ticket, he is confident of winning the PDP primary election scheduled to hold next month.

Ogembe represented Kogi Central in the senate between 2015 and 2019. He was PDP candidate in 2019 but lost his re-election bid to incumbent Senator Yakubu Oseni of All Progressives Congress (APC).

He will face six other aspirants including Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan who recently joined PDP.

“I am the defending champion, the last ticket is with me, I am holding up to the cup and people are struggling to getting this cup. I can assure you, by God’s grace, I will be the champion again,” he said.

Ogembe, a former elected local government chairman, said he enjoys massive grass root appeal among the electorate, adding that his track record of achievements while in office are incontestable.

“With utmost humility, I have done very well in the senatorial district. People call me the empowerment guru. Street lights, boreholes and other infrastructures will provided for the people are still there,” he added.
