The much publicised expulsion of a former PDP governorship aspirant in Kogi state, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim, has been described as a fairy tale.

In a statement issued by Ibrahim’s media consultant, Yusuf Abubakar, on Thursday, reports of purported expulsion is “merely a figment of the imagination of those promoting division in the party.”

Yusuf insisted that Abubakar Ibrahim is still a bonafide member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

He advised members of the party to disregard the rumoured expulsion of Ibrahim from the party.

“The news was the usual social media reports released to misinform and distract the people of Kogi state from the ongoing efforts by Abubakar Ibrahim to reclaim his mandate at the Supreme Court.

“The governorship aspirant in the last November Kogi election has not being served with any letter to this effect. It is a mere rumour taken to another level by mischief makers and known elements within the party in the state.

“There are laid down procedures by PDP leadership at the ward, local government and state levels before actions are being taken on any perceived erring member. Abubakar ibrahim is not in that category,” he said.

He warned the party leadership about efforts by some dissidents within the party working to balkanise the once formidable opposition in the state.

Yusuf added that any decision taken now is a mere attempt to frustrate Abubakar Ibrahim’s efforts to reclaim his mandate as freely expressed by the delegates.

The media aide said no amount of intimidation, blackmail, fake new or orchestrated campaign of calumny will sway Ibrahim’s resolute determination to pursue his case at the Supreme Court to a logical conclusion.

He urged the followers of the PDP governorship aspirant to remain calm and steadfast, stating that PDP is not the sole asset of some persons who had constituted themselves as nuisance in the party.
