Jubilation in Kogi as Ologbondiyan Becomes PDP Spokesman

Anxiety over last Saturday national congress organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was yesterday turned into massive jubilation following the emergence of Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan as the National Publicity Secretary of the party.
Ologbondiyan, who was editor with Thisday Newspaper and media aide to former Senate President David Mark, emerged victorious in a keenly contested position of National Publicity Secretary with three other aspirants.
In Lokoja, the premises of NUJ Press centre was thrown into jubilation as working Journalists including politicians mostly PDP members and sympathisers across party divide trooped in to rejoice Ologbondiyan’s victory at the poll.
Journalists, who took night vigil at the NUJ Press Centre, to pray and monitor the congress, celebrated Ologbondiyan victory till Sunday morning.
A chieftain of the party in Lokoja, Mr. Kabiru Yusuf, simply known as KBY, described the emergence of the ace politician as fixing the round peg in the round hole.
While describing Ologbondiyan as a perfect gentle man and most experienced among the contestants, Yusuf said the party is inching towards victory in 2019.
Also Speaking, the Chairman of the Kogi state council of Nigerian Union of Journalists, Comrade Adeiza Momojimoh, express gratitude to the PDP delegates who found Ologbondiyan worthy of his new position in the party.
He said Ologbondiyan’s success at the national congress was not only a victory for the people of Kogi State but also a pride to the entire journalists in the state.
While congratulating the newly elected National Publicity Secretary of the PDP on his feat at the poll, Momojimoh, prayed that Ologbondiyan success will not only benefit the state but also benefit working journalists in the state and the country in general.
Former speaker of Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Momojimoh Lawal, while expressing  confidence on the capability of Ologbondiyan, advised the new leadership of of the party to guard against impunity and imposition of candidates in the party.
“One major issue that led to the failure of our party during last election was imposition of candidates against the will of the members. In those days, when you win primary at your constituency, some people will run to party national secretariat with money and at the end your name will be changed, even when you are very much popular,” he added.
He however expressed optimism that the new crop of national executive members of the party, the dark days of impunity is over, adding that the party is poised to take over come 2019
Kabba, the home town of Ologbondiyan was equally charged with jubilation, the major street of the ancient town was taken over by youth and party supporters to savour the victory of their kinsman as member of the national executive of the PDP.
Ologbondiyan, in a telephone chat with journalists in Lokoja, said his victory at the poll was not for him alone, but for other aspirants who contested with him, saying that he is ready to tap from their experience and return back the glory of the party.
According to him, the process of taking back what the PDP borrowed the APC is already in top gear.
“PDP did not loose the 2015 general election, we only borrowed the APC the mantle to hold in trust, but since the borrowed robe overwhelmed them, we are taking it back so we can move the country forward,” he added.
While congratulating the party delegates for putting together competent hands to manage the affairs of the party, Ologbondiyan thanked the entire members of the party and journalists in the country for believing in him, adding that the agenda to restore power back to the PDP is on.
He equally urged other aspirants to close rank with new party leadership to re-position the PDP as the outcome of the congress was that of a ‘no victory, no vanquished’.
