The people of Isanlu in Ilorin under the aegis of the Isanlu Progressive Union has pledged to support the Senatorial ambition of Toyin Akanle on the platform of the Social Democratic Party.
The pledge was made in a meeting which was well attended by eminent Isanlu personalities.
Speaking at the meeting, the Senatorial candidate of the Social Democratic party said he has thrown his hat into the ring in order to serve the people of Kogi West. He said he will ensure infrastructural development and empowerment of the people of Kogi West. He appealed to the people of Isanlu to forgive Chief Jide Omokore for supporting an outsider against an Isanlu interest.
In his words, “I thank you all for standing on the podium of truth and patriotism. Kogi West people have been agitating for a Senator who will serve the people. I am ready to be that Apostle of change”, he said.
Also speaking at the meeting, Engr Kunle Arungbemi thanked Mr. Toyin Akanle for rising to save the name and pride of Yagba land.
According to him, “Today marks a watershed in our history as a people. We are proud of the fact that Mr Akanle has risen to save Yagba from shame. The Isanlu people will support you wholeheartedly for your success”, he said.
In his own remarks, another illustrous son of Isanlu, Chief Majiyagbe said the entire Kogi West people should ensure rotation for peaceful cooexistence. He said leaders of the community are already mobilizing support for Mr. Akanle.
Chief Harry Abe said the time has come for all Isanlu people to rally round Mr. Toyin Akanle and make the Senatorial contest a community project. He called on all Isanlu people to be united ahead of the senatorial poll. He assured the SDP candidate of victory at the poll. He referred to Mr Akanle as the Moses of the time who will deliver the people of Kogi West, saying it is high time Isanlu people embarked on a political revolution.
