The Chairman, Enemona Josh Foundation, Gabriel Onoja has commended Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello for effectively including women in his government and created a sense of belonging to them.

This was contained in a message addressed to women on the occasion of the 2022 International Women’s Day by the foundation.

Gabriel Onoja gave thumbs up to the Yahaya Bello led government in Kogi state who he said supported the 35% affirmative action by adequately ensuring that women are properly represented in his government, thereby creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.

He charged state governments and other constituted organizations to emulate the practice in Kogi state, adding that creating a better place for women in the society will reduce issues of crimes, abuse on children, especially girls and improve the economic status of women.

The founder equally urged the National Assembly to reconsider the re-introduction of the recently rejected gender bills by the lawmakers as gifts for women as the celebrate the international women’s day

Some of the bills which had been pending before the National Assembly sought affirmative action for women in governance and political representation including 35 percent appointed positions for women and 20 percent affirmative action in party administration.

Gabriel Onoja that that as a gender responsive NGO, he appeals to the National Assembly to reconsiders the rejected bills to give the woman sense of belonging.

“My foundation calls on the National Assembly to reconsider their stance and pass the Gender Equality bills to strengthen our democracy and ensure the full participation of women and equitable representation in governance,” Gabriel said.

Being an organization that cares for women, vulnerable persons and the aged, Gabriel said he will continue to mobilize support for charity, help orphans, assist widows to get livelihood and call on spirited individuals to do the same.

While congratulating women on their day, the foundation urged them to stay strong, resilient, hopeful and prayerful in all their activities.
