As much as we have witnessed not just security threat, but rank invasion of our rural communities over the months, in some parts of Kabba/ Bunu LGA, especially in the hinterlands of the Bunu district by some criminal elements identified as bandits and member of a band of marauders carrying out several criminal activities, kidnapping and gruesomely killing of our people, preventing farming & business activities and displacing them from their homes and communities, it is also profound that we also acknowledge and appreciate the turn of events as Insecurity has been drastically subdued and normalcy significantly been restored to our communities.
With the reactive and proactive commitments of the Local government authority and the strategic deployment of resources by the State government and security operatives, quality and quantitative development and success has been recorded so far in terms of boosting the security architecture of the LGA and dislodging this criminal element and pushing to halt their activities. It is courtesy of these efforts that the narratives have been changed “from rising insecurity to consolidating and enhancing security.”
According to records and statistics as made available the authorities, in the past three under review, over 40 tactical operation have been carried out in the flash points, all affected communities, and the forests perimeters being the major hideout of these criminals. Not less than 150 of this criminals have been captured and neutralized during these operations and raids, also good amount of weapons, aminations, motorcycles and other items have been confiscated by authorities, there are also several suspects and accompanies presently under custody and being prosecuted.
In addition to the available mobility and other resources and logistics, it is also on record that the Local government authority had recently donated 2 operational vehicles and 5 motorcycles to Bunu district of the LGA to boost surveillance and aid swift response to cases of security alert. Also, there have been donations of vehicles, motorcycles, logistics and other sensitive resource to security agencies across other districts of the LGA to aid security operations.
The Barr. Dare led administration of the LGA has consistently provided holistic support and logistic to the local volunteers, the vigilantes and the conventional security outfits on a monthly and terminal basis as necessary and as demanded for effective service delivery. It is evident that all of these are the factors contributing to the wins and progressively degrading of the impacts of these insurgents in the frontlines and their criminal activities within the local government areas especially in the rural communities and agro-social territories.
It is worthy to note that, previously there have been several sponsored reports of insecurity in some parts of the local government on media and news platforms where the reporters and correspondent had only documented and published the trajectory of the build up to the insecurity challenges previously faced by these areas but failed to either consciously or unconsciously highlight, document and also project the commitments, the efforts and the impacts of the government commitments in combating the insecurity challenges.
“It is the civic and moral responsibility of a patriotic citizen to call out constituted authorities when due, especially when life and properties are threatened, also it is even a greater responsibility of same to commend the efforts and commitment of the constituted authorities in the turn of events.” Following the unprecedented commitment and recent development of the security architecture and suiting reality of the security of lives and properties of the people of Kabba/ Bunu LGA as against the old narratives, it is expedient that we commend and give accolade to the state and local government authorities for taking the bull by the horn and deploying all necessary resources to restore stability and security to all affected community and enhance the security in the LGA and beyond.
Highlight of the commitment of the government of the day to the security of life and properties of residents and people of Kabba/ Bunu LGA is the repeated security clearance operations by operatives of the Nigeria Army (especially the last and recent one), and with synergy and support of other sister security outfits. The operation was not just a major boost but a significant effort that has contributed to wining the war against insecurity, dislodging these criminals from our forest reserves, farmlands and their various hideouts also reducing crime to the barest minimal in Kabba/ Bunu LGA and her environs.
It is unfortunate that there were causality records during these operations, significantly, 2 of our gallant men of the vigilante lost their lives in the process of this parotic and bravery act of service, these men paid the ultimate sacrifice and will be forever remembered. Also during these operations several other operatives sustained major and some minor injuries.
Recently, also to compliment all of these efforts, and to sustain the uncompromised commitments of the government to the security of live and properties, the honorable Chairman of Kabba/ Bunu LGA Barr, (Hon.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, with the support of the State Security Adviser Comd. Jerry Omodara Rtd. and with the approval of the Executive Governor and Chief servant of Kogi state Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, the establishment of the Nigeran Army Forward operating base (FOB) has been secured and to be situated at Iluke, a strategic location and a developing town in the Bunu district of the local government. This developments will not only enhance security architecture and operations but will in turn also boost the socio-economical activities of the LGA and increasing her national impact in contribution to food security and agro-economy.
The good people of Kabba/ Bunu has since develop greater confidence and trust in the leadership of the government of the day owing to all of this great commitments and investments in peace, welfarism and overall security of life and properties of the people,
