Stakeholders on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja Federal Constituency of Lagos State on Friday said they are opposed to the third term bid of the lawmaker representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, saying besides the fact that the legislator had got his attention focused on becoming Kogi State governor, nobody had been voted for twice in the history of that constituency.

The stakeholders, led by former Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Mr Adeyinka Tajudeen Jeje, who has interest to contest the seat come 2019, including former Vice-Chairman, Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Biodun Ayileka; Comrade Isa Bello, Femi Obaseki, Tifase Taiwo, Adebisi Samson, Sade Awolola, Folake Oshodi, Ahmed Shehu, among others, said this at a press conference, which took place at Ogba, Ikeja.

This was just as they all applauded the adoption of direct primary to pick the party’s candidates into all elective offices as announced by the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at a stakeholder’s parley which took place at the APC state secretariat on ACME Road a few days ago, but warned that information at their disposal indicated that moves were being made by some people to circumvent the laudable idea.

Addressing the journalists, Jeje, while announcing his ambition, said in the spirit of change, members of Ikeja Federal Constituency were of the belief that it was time to inject fresh ideas, fresh thinking and fresh products in the House of Representatives to augment derivable benefits from new initiatives.

According to him, the incumbent, Hon. Faleke, is not giving people of the constituency what they deserve “in terms of updating the communities on developments in the House, consulting the constituency on issues of national importance and lack of meaningful interaction with the constituents.”

“This can be understood in view of the political commitment of the incumbent in Kogi State which had led to divided loyalty. It is, therefore, better to excuse him to attend to his political foray in Kogi State.

“It is in view of this that, I, Adeyinka Tajudeen Jeje, hereby offer my services to be your representative at the 9th Legislative House of Representatives,” he said, promising to remain focused exclusively on Ikeja Federal Constituency with no basis to look elsewhere if elected, come 2019.

The aspirant also promised to hold regular consultations with the communities to feel their pulse and soothe where the shoe pinches, assuring that he would use his experience in government to attract good projects that would be beneficial to the people of the constituency.

On his part, Hon. Ayileka, equally expressed his strong opposition to the 3rd Term bid of Hon. Faleke, declaring that not even his deep relationship with the Reps’ member would make him support such ambition as there had never been any record in Ikeja Federal Constituency that a lawmaker even served twice in that capacity.

While pledging his support and asking others to do so, the former local government boss described the aspirant, Jeje, as a good product and the best candidate, who should be voted for the office.
