Kogi indigenes of Igala extraction in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have resolved to support Governor Yahaya Bello’s re-election bid.
The Igala community in UAE made this known when they hosted the member representing Ankpa 1 in the state House of Assembly at the Ramada Hotel, Al Nhada Sharjah on Friday.
President of the Igala community, Mr. Sunday Abu noted that the presence of the state lawmaker at the interactive meeting has availed members the opportunity to know more about happenings in Kogi state.
Accompanied by his wife, Hajiya Amina Ejiro Mohammed, the lawmaker commended the Igala community for their warm reception and turnout despite short notice of his arrival.
He noted that he noticed that Igalas in UAE are united.
“I decided to pitch tent with the government and be totally committed because I see a government who is youthful oriented, people who think out of the box and a group of progressives who are bent on changing the narratives of Kogi State positively.
“Most of the negative headlines and stories you read via the internet are hate-induced, and as a product of some group of persons who believes Kogi will remain in their pockets forever.
“Kogi state as a state is too blessed with enormous natural and human resources to remain a civil servant state. God knows why He enthroned Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello as Governor of Kogi State. He was anointed by God for a purpose to redirect Kogi State on the path of greatness, a paradigm shift from the stale ways of running a corrupt tribalized Government centered around ethnic sentiment,” he said.
The president of the forum commended the effort of the governor in signing the Kogi Youth Development Commission, his giant stride in infrastructure development and more importantly, security which has also been his administration’s priority.
He also commend the Deputy Majority Leader for his giant strides within the last three years in office; providing the needs of his people by touching sensitive areas such as youth empowerment, skill acquisition, rehabilitation and supply of medical facilities to hospitals, payment of hospital bills of patients, award of scholarship to students from secondary school up to university level, welfare for our elderly, widows and less privileged, and more importantly, responding earnestly to the people in needs.
Mr. Ugbede Simon Peter, in his remarks, said the Igala Community in UAE resolved to pass a vote of confidence on the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello and has mandated their members to support the governor by sensitizing others.
He stated there were all at home in the last general elections and come November 2019, there will all be home to sensitize and campaign massively for the reelection of Alh. Yahaya Bello.
