Idah Reps Race: David Zach Wins APC Primary Election With Aplomb

The chairman and founder of David Zacharias Foundation, Hon. David Idris Zacharias has emerged winner of All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election for Idah Federal constituency.
Honorable David Zacharias polled 1,067 votes to emerged victorious at the primary election held at Idah Township Stadium on Friday.
Announcing the results, the returning officer, Mrs. Maureen Ipaiye said Dr. Ugbede Ebije Paul polled a 65 votes, Hon. Sam-Adejoh Okedi polled 64 and Amb. Friday Ojima polled 08 votes.
The first runner-up, Dr. Ugbede congratulated Zacharia for winning the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket. He thanked the leadership of the party for their fairness to all the contenders in the race.

He said he was satisfied with the outcome of the primary and would do anything within his power to support the party’s candidate, Mr Zacharia and to ensure that he wins the House of Representatives seat for Idah Federal Constituency in 2019.

Dr Ebije who is also the Director General of Door to Door Movement for President Muhammadu Buhari, 2019; said internal democracy in the APC has set the stage for democracy in Nigeria to thrive, and has made the party a model for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the other political parties in Nigeria.

“The outcome of today’s primary is satisfactory, the officials of the party who conducted it were transparent and fair to all of us who vied for the ticket to contest for the House Representatives seat as candidate in 2019.

“This party is the best in the country. I am equally using this opportunity to call on the other contestants in this race to sheathe their democratic swords and back Zacharia as our candidate in 2019,” the Buhari campaigner said.

Dr Ebije who was a debutant in the primary thanked the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for providing enough security that made the primary peaceful. “Governor Bello is an achiever, and I commend him for his efforts. He made me to have confidence in our democratic process. The venue was highly secured and there was no threat and intimidation all through the exercise,” he said.

Similarly, he thanked the Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba and described him as the father of the constituency, stressing that his impartiality was highly commendable.

He equally thanked the Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, Hon Edward Onoja for being on ground to monitor the exercise and for ensuring that it was hitch free.
